I heard of the movie The Waitress.

I knew it was popular and that is why I did not watch it. I'm like that.

I watched it the other night and can't quit thinking about it.

I loved it.

It spoke to me... weird, huh.

It's the pie making thing.

Today I was reading a favorite blog of mine, Bliss, and she wrote about a pie.

Today I will make a Peanut Butter Pie and share it.

For Jennie, whom I do not know.

That does not matter.

What matters, is to make a pie.

Creamy Peanut Butter Pie

Adapted from In Jennie's Kitchen

Serves 10 to 12

For the chocolate crust:

8 ounces chocolate cookies

4 tablespoons butter, melted

For the chocolate cream layer:

4 ounces finely chopped milk chocolate or chocolate chips

¾ cup heavy cream

For the peanut butter layer:

1 cup heavy cream

8 ounces cream cheese

1 cup creamy-style peanut butter

1 cup confectioner's sugar

1 – 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

Method:

Add the cookies to the bowl of a food processor and pulse into fine crumbs. Combine melted butter and cookie crumbs in a small bowl, and stir with a fork to mix well. Press mixture into the bottom and 1-inch up the sides of a 9-inch springform pan.

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave. Pour ¾ cup of cream over the chips and mix until smooth. Refrigerate until chilled about 10 minutes. Using a whisk or electric mixer whip the chocolate until light and fluffy. Spread the mixture over the cookie crust and place pan in the refrigerator while you prepare the peanut butter filling.

Pour the heavy cream into a bowl and beat using a stand mixer or hand mixer until stiff peaks form. Transfer to a small bowl and store in refrigerator until ready to use. Place the cream cheese and peanut butter in a deep bowl. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy. Reduce speed to low and gradually beat in the confectioner's sugar. Add the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract and lemon juice. Increase speed to medium and beat until all the ingredients are combined and filling is smooth.

Stir in 1/3 of the whipped cream into the filling mixture (helps lighten the batter, making it easier to fold in the remaining whipped cream). Fold in the remaining whipped cream. Pour the filling into the prepared springform pan. Refrigerate for three hours or overnight. Top with some finely grated chocolate before serving.

Here's what to do w/ the itty bitty leaves growing out of the tall thing-ies that must be pruned. 

Bundle the leaves in your hand.


Add a twisty. Tie w/ Cute Ribbon. Let hang from tree branches. Wrap w/ paper heart garland, if you like. Or, give to a Loved-One. Enjoy. I must now return to my work. :)

We had a little jump roping class

this week.

A bit of a garden party

was the reward at

the end of the class...

This basket holds the mammoth Algerian Ivy 

 I had in my daughter's room last winter.

The tendrils are so long, they drip & drag on the ground.

Perfect!

We draped miles of colorful ribbon from the branches.

Wired Hosta flowers {the long bits} to branches...and created swings.

{ Hard to see, I know, but look for the little lamb having a grand ol' time!}

{Man, these photos just don't do justice.  

if you ever have the chance...do this project w/ a grand tree in your yard.... you'll be so glad you did!}

Oh, yes...and please tie flowers to your ribbons, if you like.

I am LOVIN' the new reality show 9 by Design.

It's soooo me.

I feel about this show like I use

to feel about Project Runway. 

I look forward to it every week...and it makes me just plain Happy.

I want to show you something.

I'm not aware if anyone has blogged about this. 

During interviews w/ Robert & Cortney, 

this vase is often in the background.

I know my photos are bad.

But, this is the best

I could do when I pause my t.v.

and take a photo.

:)

I'm guessing that the gorgeous, awesome, spectacular vase

is handmade.

I love the size and

the color and the texture.

And, boy, does it have texture.

 Way back in the Fall,

I wrote about my Sumac Experiment.

I have this thing for Sumac.  

Yea, I know, it's invasive.

Yea, I know, a lot of people can't stand the buggars.

But, I really like it.

It's sooo cool, in sooo many ways.

It's red.  I like red.

It's bold.  I like bold.

It's funky.  I tend to like things a little funky.

And.....it's unique when you use it in unexpected ways.

Can you  believe how red the sumac is?

I harvested it 7 months ago!

For my front door pot

this spring, I choose

to keep the Sumac and 

add some lovely 

Viola, Pansies and

Muscari.

Oh, and some ferns.  

Sometimes I use perennials

in my pots...

the price is not much 

different than many

annuals....

and I can plant

them in my garden 

in the Fall.

If, I feel like it.  

:)

The Ferns are going to

go in my shade garden this fall...

and the Muscari, well, I will either

plant those little guys in the ground

or I'll plant them in this

same pot... and experiment (another experiment?)

 w/ the idea of over-wintering

them in this same pot and

hopefully watching them

sprout and blossom next Spring.

My pot is special 

 (I know, that sounds kinda funny)

It was a gift from my Father and Mother-in-Law.

They packed a car load of these in their

car and hauled them 
from Arizona
 all the way to Wisconsin for gifts.

Way Cool.

It's a new Season.

This means, Time for a Photo Shoot!

Lots o' Flowers...

Lots o' Volkswagen's...

Easy.

~ Here we go ~ 

The Blossoms on the 

trees were just about perfect this morning....

and, I had been planning this shoot for months.

All Winter.

No pressure,or anything.

I kept thinking

 "as soon as those blossoms are out...got to get those volks filled

w/

flowers 

and take a ton

couple of photos...

(we're trying not to say the word "ton"in our house, in hopes of warding off exaggerations, does anyone else have this habit?  Using the word "ton" a ton?)  

and one more....

o.k. now off

to make supper for 

my children...

Here's my Post about 

another Spring Experiment....

Concerning gardening.

Concerning cute, hungry bunnies.

And Roses.

These Roses are Mystic Fairy Roses.

I have these roses...mine do not

look like this photograph.

They did when I brought them

home.

They quit looking like the above photograph

when I planted them

into the ground.

Enter.  Rabbits.  Bunnies.

{ These tame bunnies are no relation to my roses-eating yard bunnies. I think. }

Rabbits love to eat yummy roses.

The leaves, the buds, and the flowers.

So....

My roses never had a chance.

This went on for 3 years.

Enter.  Spring Experiment #2.

I dug up all of my rose bushes and

planted them into pots.

Here they are.

{ sweet, little, never had a chance...Mystic Fairy rose bushes  }

I haul them into the garage at night.

And haul them back outside into the sunshine every single day.

{ once it gets warm enough outside...I'll place each container in a certain special spot in my yard...away from bunny-mania and that's where they'll stay until Fall } 

I'm determined to get these babies growin'!

Anyone have luck w/ this technique?

You know,

The "rabbits can't eat me now" technique.

Very, very scientific.

 Spring Experiment  #1

Do you remember what it's like in the Fall?

That feeling of being "kind of tired of gardening"?

You just want to be "done" w/ all

the little watering & weeding chores and get

on w/ the next season.

Well....

I threw some of my plants, literally, into

my garage and forgot about them.

Here's my Ivy.

You can see it's alive! 

And....there are baby leaves.  

Amazing....  

Some of the ivy did not make it, it seems.  

But, a big chunk did.  

Literally, I put the pot of ivy in the garage (the garage stays at about 40 degrees all

winter) and ignored the little guys until about 

a week ago.

 Now, I set it outside during the day.  

I water it.

I talk to it.

And, it's growing....   :)

(I tried this experiment on some perennials and they don't seem to be alive, but I keep watering them

and talking to them...perhaps in a week, I'll see a little life.)

Experiment #2

Bunnies.

Rabbits.

Roses.
